Today I have a first for the site. I am posting a video that I feel deserves attention. The video is a short movie called Escape from City 17. The following is from their post on youtube.

Directed by The Purchase Brothers.

The Escape From City 17 short film series is an adaptation based on the Half Life computer game saga by Valve Corporation. Originally envisioned as a project to test out numerous post production techniques, as well as a spec commercial, it ballooned into a multi part series. Filmed guerilla style with no money, no time, no crew, no script, the first two episodes were made from beginning to end on a budget of $500.

Additional Notes:

Valve flew the team out to Seattle last year, and the brothers have been in communication with them since.

David and Ian Purchase are commercial directors represented by Sons and Daughters in Toronto. They are working on an unannounced feature film. Not HL related.

They have been huge fans of HL since the days of "ivan the space biker'

Over the next week or two the physical server will be undergoing some maintenance. During this time frame you may see the game server go down but rest assured I will get it back up ASAP. When completed it will have one more gig of RAM and be housed in an actual server case. This will allow for better air flow and cooler temps for the CPU making the game server itself in turn run smoother. I will post again after all is done. Hope everyone has a great new year.

The winter map rotation is back. Make sure to fix yourself a cup of hot cup of cocoa before sitting down to play as these maps are usually in snowy surroundings. Hope evryone has a great holiday and see you in 2009!!!

I have just added 4 new maps to the server from DocRock. In order they are logo_2008, mario_sky, mario_world, and worksite3. These maps can be found in 2 locations. The DocRock map pack can downloaded here, or you can look through all the maps available here.

In other news I have been working on getting stats back up and running on the Severian server. This is the first time I have done this with the Severian mod. Severian mod was created when Half-Life used to use WON and was never updated after the release of Steam. I have had to add a plugin to the server so that it can create the proper logs that contain Steam IDs. With that being said follow this link to the stats section to see how you rank.

Big news for those of you that want Half-Life maps. I have decided to open my personal collection of maps and the biggest thing is that you do not have to be a registered user to download them!!! People, this is a collection of over 2000 maps! If you want to see images and download the maps that are available on the game server, click here. If you just want to browse my collection by map name, check out this link. You are still encouraged to register on the site as this will allow you access to the media and downloads section. DocRock keeps crankin' em out. Two new maps from the master are available on his site, click here.. kitkat_station and kitkat_station_ext. Maps are also on the DocRock server as well as the Severian server. The DocRock map pack in the download section has been updated to include these new maps.

As you all can see I have the servers back up and almost back to the way they were. The better news is the new winter map rotation is now in effect. Feel free to jopin and turn the snow to red by fragging your friends in a winter wonder land.
